The 220 set of planes also pass through all of the atoms in the structure; however, compared to the d-spacing of the 200 planes (2.73 Å), the d-spacing of the 220 planes is 1.93 Å. The θ angle for the 220 reflection will be greater than for the 200 reflection. This increase in the θ angle serves to attenuate the reflection intensity, relative to the 200 reflection. (The scattering power of an individual atom falls off with increasing θ).
